The difference between fatigue and excessive daytime sleepiness is a very important one to understand.  Fatigue is the feeling of lack of energy or motivation.  Oftentimes one will feel unable to complete tasks and instead choose to be sedentary or avoid additional activities.  Sleepiness, however, is different.  Sleepiness is the propensity to fall asleep.  So, sitting or standing inactive, the sleepy person will fall asleep.  It is normal to have circadian variation to mood and energy level.  Particularly the afternoon following lunch is one time of day when most people feel more sleepy.  In some cultures this is used to the advantage for naps, "siesta."

Sleepiness can be dangerous, particularly if it occurs at unwanted times such as sitting in traffic or working.

Excessive sleepiness is often due to a primary sleep disorder.  This can be evaluated by careful history and examination.  In some cases formal sleep study may be helpful.
